And then I got something much more than I could have expected. <br \/>Crescent moons are a once a month phenomenon. All the conditions need to be right to get a good shot. The weather needs to be just right for starters. I made several attempts aver the course of a year, all without any form of success, until a November night when I found myself teetering on the edge of a ditch more than half a mile from Stonehenge in total darkness hoping the shot would work. It was that dark I could not see the camera, or Stonehenge for that matter. But I could see the crescent moon so, working by torchlight, I pointed the camera on the tripod in that direction and had a go. At the very point when I pressed the shutter for the shot, to the fraction of a second, a security guard happened to flash across the stones with their very powerful torch. The momentary flash transformed the shot. It was not planned but could not have been planned better. It was only when I got home and pulled out the shot with software to raise the exposure that I could see what I had got.
